Articles - Meet the Team

What is your athletic background?
I've been running since walk jog and run in elementary school. I talked up a lot of game and my mother challenged me to a 10K in fourth grade. I got a prize in my age group and smoked her, thus winning a pack of Pokemon cards.

When did you start with Final Kick Sports?
January of 2006

What brought you here?
I've been running with Final Kick since I was in middle school. When I hit that age where my parents would kill me if I didn't get a job, Jerry Frostick, the former owner, was advertising that he needed part time help. I signed up and have been here since (intermittently with school, of course)

What's your preferred training shoe?
Brooks Adrenaline, for 6 editions of the shoe now.

What's your favorite race, and do you have a story that goes with it?
The Summer Series relay! A random selection for your teammates can be incredibly frustrating or extremely fun. I've been on a team with my high school cross country buddies and I've been on a team with a walker. One year when I was particularly fit, I was asked to run a leg for two different teams. Those teams got 2nd and 3rd.

What's your favorite workout?
Anything that challenges my legs more than my lungs since I've got asthma. Track work and hill repeats are fun and give that satisfying muscle soreness.

What fuels your races?
I love burritos. To the point that I've run a 5K where I ate a burrito in the middle.

Do you have any furry/scaly/feathery companions?
I've got a Great Dane named Rocket. He weighs around 150 pounds, so 10 less than me.

Who's your running/biking/swimming inspiration?
Prefontaine for a person, but more this quote than anything else: “Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle...when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”

What's your other job?
I protect the streets of Gotham city while wearing a mask and cape. Also, I work full time as a support representative for inMotion Hosting.
