David- Your plan sounds great to me. 7am works well for me. I might even get home in time to take kiddo to the pool (he can't be an Olympian if he doesn't get in the water, right?)
I can do a slower loop, then a fast one too. Or go on ahead and meet you down the road. I'll see how I feel with the chest cold. I mapped out the short loop which is 19.5miles in case I was alone, I added side trips to get it over 20- and because I am curious what is down those roads.

Gigi- have you ridden out here before or with a group? There is a Bike Safety thread to look at on the forum. Bring a helmet (duh), I like 2 water bottles (one with sport drink) if I am out over an hour. If you are out over an hour a gel pack or cubes can be good too- or bring them if you are going to take them during your race, so you can practice (maybe once you are comfortable after a few rides out here.) I put my cell and inhaler in my jersey, ID and money (creditcard) in saddle bag. I also have a RoadID on my shoe. Spare tire/change kit, carry small pump. (if you don't have the tools/pump yet, one of us will.) If I have a route planned or am with a group with a 'regular' route I often carry the cue sheet print out in case I need to head back early, or reduce speed, I will have the route written out so I can get back!
The basic route out of Red Mill is the second half of the Cue Sheet on FK's site. The part from Elson Green to Newbridge will help you get in and out of the neighborhood we ride thru (yes, I am dopey enough to have memorized all the rural roads and then got stuck cruising around the hood trying to find the way out to where my car was parked.

haha) MapMyRide has a cue sheet feature, but you have to pay for it. If I really want one, I mapp the ride on Google maps and printed it there for free.
See you all tomorrow at 7!!! -Judy
